I finally posted the photographs I took while at the Renaissance Fair on my birthday weekend on my Flickr account. This year the maiden VS wench radio was surprisingly high. Very few wenches (IE: women with boobs practically falling out of their tops) were waltzing around. A few older wenches were about (ew) and from the looks of it their boobs could have been chin rests. Floppiness is NOT attractive!
The Bold and Stupid Guys show was hilarious, as were the conversations of random people. One man walked around with a bunch of rope and started impromptu rope pulling contests. Jake jumped into one and their side won. There was also a few fairies (or pixies) that tried to cause havoc on unsuspecting people. One would play dead while the other two held rope across the walkway. We walked in and Jake was skeptic. He assumed it would be something boring that you 'had to be into' to fully enjoy. Within ten minutes he was talking about coming back and dressing in costume. *smiles* The costumes were fantastic (as usual) and the faire was very large. If you haven't been to one, it's a memory you won't forget.

Posted by Diva on May 07, 2007 | Comments (1) This weekend was a blast. We spent ALL day hanging out with Audie and chatting. I chose The Cheesecake Factory for it's good food and nice atmosphere. I didn't factor in the parking though. $20 bucks later we were finally allowed to leave. Oy. It was nice to finally meet some of the people we've been chatting with online. I've only met a handful so far (which includes Jake ) so I am hoping this is the start of meeting more NCTers. The biggest problem is trying to get to a spot where we can meet. Most of my friends are out of state or the country. A day trip to New York is out of the question, so I guess we'll have to wait a while before seeing others. My only disappointment was that the waiter took the pictures and mine came out all blurry. Audie will just have to come out again to take more! The television is officially fixed! Friday night JakeD and I planned on some quick cleaning which ended up being a mini spring cleaning. It spilled over into Saturday too. You'd think we were expecting company for the week, Then on Saturday e JakeD went to the anti war rally while I stayed home for the television repair guy. After zipping through the repair he showed me the possible culprits. Two little switches that Samsung had originally used on their newest lines of televisions. Apparently the company that made them did a lousy job and Samsung is eating a lot of the cost. He had already replaced four yesterday and I was the second one of the day. I'm just glad the whole thing is over with and we can get back to movie date nights. On Saturday Jake and I stopped by the rescue stand to see the lady who fostered our two cats, Dorian and Phoebe. We hadn't spoken to her in a while and got an email asking for donations. It turns out she never got my message. I've been wanting to donate more money for a while so it was a perfect opportunity to help a fellow foster volunteer and a kitten who was very ill. I hope the little guy makes it. The best part was seeing the other people who ended up adopting from Bernadine. I remember their cats when they were kittens and they've all grown so big. The other foster people were amazed at how many of her adopters showed up. It was nice to show them how grateful we were for all that they've done. Bernadine doesn't just rescue/foster cats. She shows them love and keeps them in a calm house where they are people and other pets. By the time the cats are adopted they are ready for any type of home that wants them. Tomorrow I start back at work, which is going to be hell. I have a week of work to catch up on and a boss that's going to ride my ass like the star horse in a rodeo. Oy... Friday night sucked. I couldn't get comfortable for the life of me. Everything ached. Saturday morning arrived and I was finally hitting that deep sleep when THEY came. The DWP decided that Saturday at 8AM was a good time to drill holes through the pole right outside our bedroom window. All of the sudden loud trucks and a group of men decended upon our quiet neighborhood. They shouted at each other in Spanish as the drill hit high gear. For ten minutes I hoped they would finish, fall, something... then got up. It's 11:30AM now and they're working on the next pole. Apparently they're adding wires to each pole. Why couldn't they have started at the OTHER end? Bastards. I'm going to be a really grumpy person today. You have been warned... What is up with everything being down on the web today? I woke up feeling like crap and tried SU. Down. I clicked on my Motherload game. Down. I went to lay down for a while and just got up. I tried them again. and got nothing. It's now 2:30 PM and they're BOTH still down. *grumbles* I don't feel well enough to do anything else. Well... except for complain. Today was a test of my inner strength. We were swamped with projects and all I could think about was going home and having an enjoyable evening with Jake. My boss was in a good mood and even drove to get the Cinco de Mayo food from El Pollo Loco. I think that's what kept me sane enough to make it. If she had been in one of her 'moods' I think I would have been looking for a job. Seriously. All I want to do is kick back and relax this weekend. Chat with people on and off but for the most part get away from it all. As of 5 O'Clock the world ceased to exist as we know it. Now it's just me, Jake and the cats... getting ready to drink some Don Julio tequila and watch a flick or two. Not the cats. They're not allowed to drink. :p Jake and I had a great weekend. We lounged around on Saturday and then went to my boss' house on Sunday for a party. I arrived to a house full of family and no other UCLA people. It made me feel really good. She introduced me as someone she works WITH instead of someone who works FOR her. Everyone was very kind. Jake and I spent most of the time talking to her uncle, who is an absolute doll. It was really nice to see her in a different atmosphere. She looked very happy. We decided to take the scenic route home and drive through Kanan Road over to PCH. At one point we stopped to take pictures (which will be posted soon). The day was clear and a light breeze that made it heaven. The beach was almost empty which made it even more beautiful to drive through. I honestly didn't want the day to end. *smiles* We've had a great couple of days off. It was so nice to sleep in and lounge around together. Yesterday we decided to go in search of a new scratching post (the old one is quite weathered). The first pet store we stopped at had kitten adoptions, so of course we had to stop and drool. A lady asked if we were interested in a kitten and I told her about my Russian Blue ordeal. I just couldn't see myself spending $500 to $700 dollars on a cat. She smiled and said, "We've got Russian Blue kittens that will be ready for adoption in a couple of weeks. I almost fainted. I signed the two page application and played with the other kittens for a while before finally making an appointment to meet with her today. I am trying to not get my hopes too high (yeah right) until I see them. Keep yer fingers crossed!

Posted by Diva on November 13, 2005 | Comments (3) My weekend flew by. I can basically sum it up by saying I slept in, played on the computer and then slept more. G-d I'm boring... The clock hits 4:59PM and I grab my purse, go down the two elevators, get my car keys, drive towards home, call Jake, meet him halfway, go on our dinner date, drop by fish store and buy 4 new fish, stop by 7/11 for alcohol, pull into parking garage, set alarm, open door, throw off clothes and turn on computer. Let the long weekend begin! I hate forgetting to put up the away message on my instant messangers. Especially since I bitch at Jake for not using his. Today was so fucking hot I went into the bedroom to lay down for a minute. That minute turned into a 3 hour nap and I came back to messages of people who had popped up to say hi and then finally left. :/ The weekend turns me into some sort of major flake. One minute I'm chatting, the next I'm playing a game and then time passes and I look down to see the blinking of messangers that I hadn't noticed. To make up for it: Al: Sweet dreams. Talk to you soon. *hugs* Audie: *waves* I hope you have a great day Bane: Fix my shit! *smiles* No, I won't join 43 Things. :p Jules: *evil grin* Kitty: *hugs* How YOU doin? Marcy: *tickles* Pos: *hugs* Feel better Unfy: o.O For everyone else: Hi. :) Hahahaha. :D Hahaha :p There... That should about cover it. When my boss divvied up the work for this weekend I figured I could do five reports no problem. HAH! My eyes are aching and I'm only on my 4th one. I think I'm going to finish that up and call it a day. I want some time to surf the web and be lazy, damn it! Weekends are like the nectar of G-ds to me. Ummm... I think. If G-ds had nectar that was really, really good. Anyway, I'm happy. :D My boss just offered to pay me for two days work if I did some work over the weekend. Oh hell yeah! Getting ANY time over the forty hours is pretty much impossible, but I'll take two days banked in a second. It will help me to recoup some of the time I lost when I was sick. After my boss walked away my friend came up and said, "You know she'll never let you go." I don't know whether I should take that as a compliment or a threat. Either way I'm planning escape routes just in case... Jake took off for a couple of hours to go watch the new Batman flick so I could spend some time alone. It's nice to just be able to kick back and relax for a while by myself. The downside is that I thought about him the whole time, hoping that he was enjoying himself. I also got to harass Bane about basically everything and listen to him sing "This shit is bananas. B-a-n-a-n-a-s" over and over. Kill me now. My weekends are flying by lately. I blink and it's Sunday evening again. My evenings during the week are practically non-existant. I hope it slows down soon. I spent this weekend uploading a ton of humor pictures for the NoChickTrix gallery. The funny part is that it was only one section. I have so many pictures saved for the site. Sometimes I just want to delete them all and start all over. I can see it now... Three months later and over 3 gigs of NEW pictures to go through. Is there a Packrat Anonymous group I can sign up with? |
