Apparently the server issue is no one's problem. MT insists it's a server issue. My server management company says it's s script issue. I haven't even tried going back to my host who doesn't know why the issue is happening. Back to MT support. Riiiiight. I like MT, I really do. The look, the ease, everything. What I DON'T like is that their free support is basically a 'you get what you pay for' deal. I'm not pointing fingers. I don't know who to even start with. All I want is a blog that works with comments that work too. I understand my server management company's frustration. They can't find the issue and the developers aren't saying anything. I'm going to try again to see what I can do with the MT people... but at this rate it looks like I may be searching for another software and asking all the people on my server to do the same. I have no choice. Meanwhile I am so nervous about tomorrow and Wednesday I could faint. I have two HUGE meetings back to back on Tuesday officially announcing my duties to all the big wigs in my department, then starting Wednesday I finally start my doing what I was hired to do. Of course then I have to take off to see if the abscess it better or if I need surgery. GAH! I've been pestering the Oral Surgeon's office to see if there were any cancellations... but no such luck. At least my mouth doesn't hurt as bad. *knocks on wood* We're *trying* to still fix whatever keeps screwing up on the server. There are times people can't log into their blogs or post comments. Right now I can log in and post (duh). The comments are still giving 500 ISE (Internal Server Errors). Since there seems to be some confusion on what the difference is between an ENTRY and a COMMENT I am going to list it here: ENTRY: You are reading it right now. You sign into the Posting section and click New Entry. This is not a problem *crosses fingers* COMMENT: At the bottom of this ENTRY on the main page (what you are viewing now) you will see the word "COMMENTS (0)". The number "0" means no comments have been posted. Click on COMMENTS (0). This will take you to the COMMENT section. From there you add your name, email/website and any comment you would like. Once you click POST it is supposed to post the comment. Unfortunately people who try are getting a 500 ISE. Please let me know if you have any questions. *crosses fingers, toes and eyes that this clarifies everything* Yeah, so this weekend I spent in limbo. I waited for my tester domain to get the database copied over. When it was I tried the comments. So of course it kicked me right back to J00wish. *sigh* Now I need to go through and see what needs to be done to upgrade the damn thing. Then... I'll upgrade this blog. I figure I need to at least update the stupid thing before screaming anymore. considering the amount of time spent trying to figure the errors out I could have had a brand new hard drive installed and started from scratch. The thing is... I'm told it's not a hardware issue. While the 500 Internal Server Errors have stopped I am starting to get all sorts of errors when rebuilding the site. Plus... the comments still don't update. Whatever. I'll tackle the issues as time and sanity permits. Hopefully by this weekend. It's one of those annoying things that gnaws at you. Every time I start to type I just know it's not working right and no one has been able to give me a reason why. next step: Changing software. I am sooo not looking forward to that option. Blah. The comments seem to work (you have to refresh the page for them to show up) and I can get into the blog to post. I'm getting a bunch of funky errors with my blog which means I'm going to have to upgrade this weekend. I love my blog and miss posting in it daily, but this whole debacle has left a real damper on me in general. I have yet to find out what actually happened to my server. Anyway, I may not blog until after I upgrade just to save my sanity. I am sorry to everyone on the server who's had to deal with this. I feel absolutely horrible about it. I've never felt so helpless and angry... especially when nothing was ever really resolved. I feel like it's running with one and a half legs. *sighs* I am at my wits end. No matter what we've tried no one can find the culprit to why my server started giving me 500 internal server errors at random times. Sometimes it's when i am trying to log in. I have yet to be able to post a comment. SOMETHING on the server is fucked up and I don't know who I can go to that will help me. Everyone says to try and update the blog. Two problems. One: Bane did the original setup with design and I don't know how to upgrade or what will change if I do. I can't get a hold of him to even beg for help (although I've left a few messages along that line) and feel like I'm fucked. Two: Considering it's happening to ALL blogs on the server I don't see how upgrading one will fix all. I want my server to work right. this isn't fair! *pouts* It's been almost a week since the 'scheduled maintenance' brought my server down and so far nothing has fixed it. Not upgrading Image Magick (one suggestion) or countless tests by both my hosting company and a few by my server management company. I'd ask for people to post suggestions... BUT THEY CANT. Okay, so apparently the server is 'correcting' itself whenever I post a trouble shooting ticket. they also said that the error is 'weird' and that it 'might correct itself'. Hopefully it will because I don't want to have to keep submitting tickets only to have the damn thing start working the minute I click POST. Maybe that's the key. the server gets nervous and corrects itself so it doesn't have to deal with anyone fucking around with it anymore. Whatever works... Yeah, so yesterday sucked major donkey balls. Hairy, sweaty, infested donkey balls. My server decided to take a nap and I had no idea what to do. I spent twelve hours trying to work with two different support options (and a wonderful woman who sent me to her friends for help) only to go to bed without the email part resolved. This morning I clicked some random "Manage email" button and got slammed with over 1,111 emails. At least the damn thing is working. Part of me wants to know what happened so it doesn't happen again. The other half wants to burn yesterday from my memory and never revist it again. So far the latter is winning. In other news I tried Second Life and hated it. The characters are nothing compared to Sims and they walk like there's an umbrella up their ass.... open. The best part about this game is watching Zack and his molester midget character. At one point Reli took us to get some free clothing/hair/etc... I'm looking through the free outfits and Zack flies in on a pink dildo. Then he turned into the Kool-Aid guy and it really got weird. I think I had a dream like this... I finally changed hosting companies and moved servers this week. I remember the first time I changed hosts. I wanted to go to a dedicated server and my current hosting company was just too steep for what they had to offer. I was really disappointed because they were so nice. After searching forums and hosting review sites I found one company that always had great reviews. I went with them and was very happy. Then they were bought out. The stellar support I counted on changed to 'just okay'... and it went downhill from there. The old company answered tickets almost immediately (I think 30 seconds was the fastest). The new company once took two days to answer a ticket. It wasn't that big of a deal, but the time lapse was still pretty shocking. I outgrew my server and finally decided to move on. My new hosting company is EV1 Servers. I looked through hosting review sites and for the most part I've read positive comments. So far so good! The customer service rep was extremely helpful and nice. He worked with me to get the server I wanted and help me through the initial steps. The support was fast and courteous, and I really like the fact that I can actually talk to someone instead of waiting on an email. I was stuck when it came to setting up the server and transferring data. My best friend, Bane, usually helps me on the server but was stuck working every night. He found Platinum Server Management, who I recommend to ANYONE wanting to set up their server, make sure it's secure or needing someone to monitor their server. I emailed them on Sunday not expecting much to happen. By late afternoon I had received five emails listing what they had done and updating me on what was still needed. I was amazed. I'm not sure if I want to continue to pay them monthly, but it was worth a one month fee. Now the icky part. Telling my old hosting company to shut my account. I sent them a ticket Saturday at 12:30PM and got a curt reply 24 hours later stating that it will be dealt with during normal business hours. I'm crossing my fingers they don't come up with some weird fee to hit me up for. |
