Pink Rocks
(April 29, 2006)
I guess it's a sign of the emotional strain of the times when a song makes me cry. I just watched the video of Pink performing Dear Mr. President Live in NYC. The words are powerful and the music is beautiful. Here's my first try at embedding a video on the front page. Enjoy! Dear Mr. President Dear Mr. President What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street How do you sleep while the rest of us cry Dear Mr. President What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away How do you sleep while the rest of us cry Let me tell you bout hard work How do you sleep at night Posted by Diva at April 29, 2006 10:16 AM
CommentsPosted by: dynamitt at April 29, 2006 06:07 PM Good song , shame she doesnt know the facts behind what anybody does. Im English and dont particulary like the president , but he is privvy to information you and i dont see . so how about except the fact and show support for the people doing what they can for us. How would you sleep if we did nothing after 9/11 and 7/7? anyways , have a good day people. Posted by: Demise at June 12, 2006 02:09 PM She should join the chixie dicks. Posted by: Jon at June 12, 2006 03:19 PM What a dumb song. He's the president, not God. Posted by: ee at June 12, 2006 03:32 PM I think the president has a lot to answer for, and I don't see how he made it where he is. I only wish more people agreed with that song :( Posted by: Benie at June 12, 2006 03:32 PM Wow. I'm amazed there're Americans out there who can still defend that man. Disgraceful. Pink hits the nail right on the head. Posted by: dnm at June 12, 2006 04:46 PM I hate it when people complain about the homeless and say it's the government's fault and that it's the government's duty to find a job and buy a house for you. Posted by: Snowman at June 12, 2006 05:06 PM Thanks for all the replies! Dynamitt: Yeah, I really liked it. Demise: I agree that the President is privvy to more info. I think this is a statement about needing to look at what is happening within our boarders. We have a lot of work to do domestically. The War on Terror was a great idea. Too bad it was sidetracked. For a moment people had bonded together. He took advantage of that moment and I dont know if we can ever get back. Jon: Why? Because she made a political statemtent? Or because her statement disagreed with yours? *shrugs* Bernie and Dnm: I agree. I think it's important that we voice our opinion, what ever that may be. Snowman: I agree with you that it's not the government's job to find you one. But there are many people out there who are mentally ill and the street is their home. Then there are the people who live off of welfare, which needs to stop. There are so many domestic issues, none of which are being addressed. The 'No child is left behind' is a joke. Posted by: Diva at June 12, 2006 06:00 PM Good song but what does she mean by: "How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye" Does it have to do with mothers of soldiers at war or something? Not really sure.. Posted by: Posted by: Posted by: at June 14, 2006 04:54 PM Not sure why one would think these words are powerful. If you agreed with the song, undoubtably you would have thought about all of these things on your own before now. Posted by: Ben at June 17, 2006 07:07 AM You guys who think this song isnt completely stupid are moronic. Sure the President has been messed up a couple times in his day, but you cant just put all this crap against him and criticize all he does. The President does what he thinks is right and for some idiotic bitch like Pink to try and degrade him by her terrible music is pathetic. Posted by: Appalled at June 17, 2006 11:57 AM How does pink sleep knowing she is making thousands and people are sleeping on the streets. And what does she know about hard work ? Let her go pick strawberrys in the fields. What a hipppo!! Posted by: John at June 17, 2006 06:34 PM Man, as far as war protest songs... this song just sucks. Sure Bush is a douchebag, but so it Pink, thus making what she has to say as unimportant as what the President says. The only difference is that when the president says something, something actually happens. If you want a protest song, listen to some fuckin' Bob Dylan, not this crap that's totally void of any original thought or message. Posted by: Salsa Shark at June 17, 2006 08:12 PM what moronic messages...just be thankful someone is willing to speak in an america that resembles too much a 1938 germany...i'm glad for anything other than fox news. Posted by: craig at June 17, 2006 11:22 PM You guys/gals DO realize he's not being blamed FOR the homeless, but for putting more attention to other countries then his own, right? The President already admitted he went into Iraq without checking the sources. The war was started over a lie just to get us in. Soldiers died for that lie. Yes, it's good that Hussein is out. But don't forget WE put him in power. He used to be an ally. We used to sanction his actions. Pink is a decent pop singer. Considering this is one of her first 'political' songs, it is powerful by her standards. Posted by: Diva at June 18, 2006 10:32 AM To everyone who voted for Bush and is taking up for Bush: Thank you. Thank you for turning our once-great country into a total fucking joke. The American public really appreciates your hard work in electing a party of corrupt, gay-hating, chickenhawk, Bible-thumping assholes. Thank you for enabling an administration that completely fumbled a war that the politicians sold as quick and easy. We appreciate how you could give a shit less about the government spying on citizens, yet can't stand to see Janet Jackson's tit on live television. That's true American standards right there. Your part in supporting a party that fights for the rights of corporate interests and pisses on the rights of Americans is admirable, and it's so great that you've turned us into one of the most hated nations in the world. Also, way to send tons of our best and bravest men and women out to die for a cause that still remains undefined by the very people that argued in its favor. We really appreciate how you don't set any standards for the politicians you so pinheadedly adore, and it's mind-boggling how willingly you discount corruption, treason, and obviously partisan right-wing media manipulation. And where's bin Laden, the guy responsible for 9/11? If Bush is so great, what happened with the Hurricane Katrina recovery effort? Gas prices? We also love how you claim to be working-class people and then stand by while Bush hands out tax breaks to the rich jerks who wipe their asses with the law on a daily basis. Thanks to your beloved Bush, we're now facing a gigantic wartime debt that won't be paid by the time your great-grandkids come into this world. If you don't think that all of these transgressions against our country are reprehensible and that Bush shouldn't be held accountable for any of it (I'm looking at you, Appalled, jon, John, ee, and anyone else who wants to step up to the plate), you truly are an idiot. It's positively shameful that you can muster enough feigned outrage to bitch about an anti-Bush song, but can't manage to be pissed off over half of the laundry list of things that have gone wrong with this administration. Posted by: Jake at June 18, 2006 10:50 AM I agree with Pink's message. And I also believe that this isn't a protest song, but an artist's right to express her feelings on a subject that holds meaning in her life. How do any of you know if Pink does not help the homeless? Does not know of hard work? Life's trials are different for everyone. Hard work, valor, success are all in the eye of the beholder. Also, I would like to note that it would be wise to consider the consequences of posting anything with derogatory language. No one takes you seriously, my friends. Posted by: Alexandra at June 18, 2006 06:35 PM I challange any Bush fan to support him without using circular logic. I've never seen it done, and don't think anyone ever will. Posted by: Bigmatt at June 18, 2006 06:53 PM In all honesty, I think that the President was selected by a higher power that's using him like a puppet. They let him think he won fair and square, yet all the while he was just the pet poster boy for the scam taking place behind the black curtain. He is just too much of an idiot to have even been in a running for the presidency yet alone win. 911 was a hoax and now I regret having joined the military for it. Thousands of people have lost there lives because of this rigged up scheme, for whatever the reason it was conceived, including innocent people in Iraq. I was there and those people have it so bad in that country without us being there to push them out of their homes and killing there women and children with miscalculated attacks. This is all about money and power, yet no one knows who has all the power and is making all the power moves. The president isn't educated enough to read a simple speech nontheless make such grand decisions. Thanks to Pink for being bold enough to speak her mind. Stay beautiful. Vote DEMOCRAT!!! Posted by: Warren at June 22, 2006 08:32 PM Honestly, for those who were bashing Pink, you need to find a new target. Stop staring into the idiot box to get your news feed. Scround the internet to REAL media, not propaganda crap. Being a soldier I've seen what you haven't. I've heard what you can't even imagine. I've smelled the stench that Bush has brought our country into. I said OUR COUNTRY for a reason. It's not his. We were forced into this war so the class structure in this nation and others can have a richer 1%. That's it case closed. Going back to the song, it makes many valid points and questions about our nation and our president today. I don't care what he knew that we didn't know. I'm tiried of everyone acting like a friggin' victim. Stop everything that your doing and ask yourself these questions. Who am I really working for? How far ahead am I looking? Can my life get any better with the current course? Can my childrens'? Change your brain and think outside the TV, outside political parties, outside of war/hate, maybe just go think outside. Take a walk and look around you. Your burning eyes, lungs, and nose will tell you something is wrong. Tyrade complete. Oh yeah. This song is worth a million Bob Dylan original recordings. I can't understand a word that guy says. (No I don't hate him, just can't understand him) Posted by: hiddenpower at June 24, 2006 06:58 PM Hahaha. "Search the internet for real media." I've never heard something so hilarious in my life. Dude if you think that the internet is less bias than TV then you are sorely mistaken. The internet is probably more bias because it's just people's opinions. Get your head out of your ass! Posted by: Salsa Shark at June 29, 2006 11:39 PM Post a comment |
